These Terms govern your use of Build_it, operated by Build_it Labs Ltd. (“Build_it”, “we”, “us”). Build_it Labs is a company registered in Ghana. By creating an account or paying for a programme, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the platform.
Who the Terms apply to
These Terms apply to anyone who uses Build_it, including learners who enrol in a programme, facilitators who run one, and organisations that purchase seats on behalf of their members.
Where an organisation has signed a separate contract with us, the terms of that contract prevail over anything inconsistent in this public document.
Your account
You need an account to enrol in a paid programme. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. If someone else uses your account without your permission, tell us at info@builditlabs.io and we will help you recover it.
You must be at least 16 to hold a Build_it account on your own behalf. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must create and supervise the account.
One account per person. Sharing an account with someone else, or running more than one account for yourself, can lead to suspension.
Programmes and lessons
Build_it runs cohort-based programmes. Each cohort has a fixed start date, an enrolment deadline and a lesson schedule. Lessons unlock on a set rhythm that is visible to you from the day you enrol. You can see when a future lesson unlocks; you cannot open it earlier.
We do not offer self-pacing. The schedule is a feature of the programme, not a limitation of it. If you miss a day, the platform will surface a catch-up path. Your unlock dates do not move.
If we need to reschedule a cohort, we will give you as much notice as we reasonably can. Where the delay is material, we will offer a full refund.
Payments, instalments, refunds
Prices for consumer learners are shown in Ghana Cedis (GHS). B2B contracts are usually in United States Dollars. You pay through Paystack (Mobile Money or card) or Stripe, depending on the route you choose. We never see or store your card number, your CVV, or your Mobile Money PIN.
Some programmes are available on an instalment plan. On an instalment plan, modules unlock as each instalment clears. A missed instalment pauses access to the next locked module until payment is received.
You may request a full refund within 48 hours of your cohort’s start date. After that window, refunds are at our discretion. We do not issue a refund once more than 25% of the programme has been completed. Approved refunds are paid back to the original payment method, in the original currency, within ten working days.
Raising a chargeback with your bank or Mobile Money provider without first contacting us may result in immediate suspension.
Certificates
Finishing a programme earns you a digital certificate. The certificate is a record of what you completed and what was assessed. It is not an academic qualification, and it is not a substitute for a licence in any regulated profession.
Every certificate carries a verification link. Anyone you share it with can check that it is real. If we later find that submitted work was not your own, or that a certificate was obtained through deception, we reserve the right to revoke it.
Your conduct
Treat other learners, facilitators and staff with the respect you would offer in a classroom. We do not allow harassment, discrimination, threats, or content that breaks Ghanaian law.
You also agree not to:
- share your login with another person;
- copy, republish or resell programme material;
- submit someone else’s work as your own;
- try to bypass lesson locks, cohort boundaries or the paywall;
- use the platform to send bulk commercial messages to other learners.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where the breach is minor, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
Content you submit
When you submit work through the platform, whether as an exercise, a portfolio piece, a question or a message, you keep the copyright in that work.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host it, display it to your cohort and facilitator, and, where relevant, show anonymised excerpts for teaching or marketing. You can ask us to stop using your work publicly at any time; we will stop within ten working days of your written request.
If what you upload includes something you do not own, you confirm that you have the right to upload it.
Our content
Everything else on the platform, including videos, lesson text, designs, and the Build_it name and logo, belongs to Build_it or is used under licence. Your enrolment gives you a personal right to use that material to study. It does not give you a right to copy it, record it for distribution, or rebuild it into a competing product.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the platform running. We do not guarantee that it will always be available without interruption. Short maintenance windows, network issues and third-party outages do happen.
We may change features, pricing, or these Terms. For material changes, we will email every active user at least fourteen days before the change takes effect. Where a change affects a programme you have already paid for, it will apply only from the next cohort unless you agree otherwise.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability we cannot lawfully limit under Ghanaian law.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost opportunities, or loss of data, where that loss is not a direct and foreseeable result of our breach.
You use the platform for the purpose for which it is designed, which is learning. We do not promise a particular job, salary or financial outcome from finishing a programme.
Suspending or closing an account
You can close your account from your profile page at any time. Closing your account ends access to any active programme. Unused portions are not refunded, except under clause 04.
We may close or suspend an account where the holder has broken these Terms, where a payment has failed and remains unpaid for more than fourteen days, or where the law requires us to.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Any dispute we cannot resolve between us may be referred to the courts sitting in Accra.
For complaints, please write to us first at info@builditlabs.io. We aim to reply within five working days.
The whole agreement
These Terms, any programme-specific terms you agree to at checkout, and any B2B contract where one applies, make up the whole agreement between you and us about the use of the platform. If any part of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
